"In the desire realm ... only vitality and no others": this explains the fourth line, and in doing so explains the names of the desire realm and form realm. In the desire realm, desire is preeminent, so it is simply called "desire." In the form realm, form is preeminent, so it is simply called "form." The sūtra also says: among the eight liberations, the liberation of the cessation attainment is the most completely tranquil, surpassing the form and formless liberations, calling it "tranquil surpassing." It does not mean surpassing in the sense of transcending what is not bound to the three realms. Since the sūtra speaks of form, it is clear that form is preeminent. The remaining text corresponds to the original text and thus follows. Superiority in concentration demonstrates the cause; superiority in birth demonstrates the fruit; the rest of the text is understandable.
