Regarding 'The commentary says... up to: hence there are nineteen': this explains the upper two lines. At the maximum, one can possess nineteen, meaning that one with both genders is necessarily an ordinary being of the desire realm. If the four faculties such as the eye have been obtained and not lost, and having both genders one definitely has not severed the roots of good, one possesses the five of faith, etc. Those with both genders cannot depart from desire, so they definitely possess the five sensations; their body, life, and mind are also definitely possessed; hence they possess nineteen. Those with both genders cannot enter noble status, so the three untainted [faculties] are excluded. The two bondages refer to associated bondage and object-referent bondage.
