「謂三洲人至無煩惱故」者，答。三洲，簡北洲等。就三洲中取女、男相續，簡扇搋等。就女、男中取不時解脫，簡時解脫。就不時解脫中取得邊際定，簡不得者。諸阿羅漢，簡異學人。由彼身中一有自在定，顯是利根；二無煩惱故，顯諸惑盡。

"Namely, humans of the three continents [...] because they are without defilements": the answer. "Three continents" excludes the northern continent and so forth. Among the three continents, the continuums of females and males are taken, excluding the *ṣaṇḍha* and so forth. Among females and males, those not liberated by occasion are taken, excluding those liberated by occasion. Among those not liberated by occasion, those who attain the border samādhi are taken, excluding those who do not. "Arhats" excludes trainees. In their bodies, first, they possess sovereign samādhi, showing that they are of sharp faculties; second, because they are without defilements, showing that all afflictions have been exhausted.
