"Furthermore, bound dharmas [...] possessions are of four kinds" is the section distinguishing bound and unbound. If it is the possession of a dharma bound to the three realms, it is still bound to the three realms in accordance with the dharma possessed, because the possession of a conditioned dharma determines its nature in accordance with the dharma possessed. If it is the possession of an uncontaminated, unbound dharma, it is bound to the three realms and unbound—such is the general characteristic. To distinguish them specifically, unbound dharmas are of three classes in total: 1. analytical cessation; 2. non-analytical cessation; 3. the truth of the path. The possession of non-analytical cessation is common to being bound to the three realms; whichever realm the physical body is in, the possession is bound to that realm, because the possession of non-analytical cessation determines its nature in accordance with its support. The possession of analytical cessation determines its nature in accordance with the path capable of realizing it. If it is induced by a contaminated path, it is bound to the form or formless realm, because the desire realm lacks an abandoning path. If it is induced by an uncontaminated path, it is unbound; hence it says "and uncontaminated". The possession of the truth of the path is exclusively uncontaminated and unbound. The path is conditioned, and because the possession of a conditioned dharma determines its nature in accordance with the dharma possessed, the possession of unbound dharmas includes four kinds: the three realms and unbound.
