On [the text reading]: "One should know that the ideationless [absorption] ... the rest is explained as before": The ideationless absorption is analogous to the absorption of cessation. Because the mind preceding the absorption can obstruct, it arises in opposition to subsequent remaining minds; because this mind preceding the absorption arises, it merely causes subsequent remaining minds temporarily not to operate; merely the state wherein mind does not operate is nominally established as the ideationless absorption, but it is merely the absence of mind, without a separate substantial entity. The rest is explained as before. According to this text, the two absorptions are nominally established upon the non-operation of mind or upon the physical basis; some say that the Sautrāntikas nominally establish the two absorptions upon the seeds of the loathing mind, but the textual evidence has not yet been seen.
