「次滅盡定至三十四念故」者，此下第二明滅盡定。初一句明自體為靜，明作意。住有頂，明依地。善，明性攝。二受不定，明招果。聖，明修人。由加行得，明初修行。後兩句明成佛得。

"[Next, the attainment of cessation ...] [through thirty-four mental moments]": below this is the second [section], explaining the attainment of cessation (nirodha-samāpatti). The first line explains its essential nature; "for the sake of tranquility" explains its mental orientation (manaskāra); "abiding at the peak of existence (bhavāgra)" explains its supporting ground (bhūmi); "wholesome (kuśala)" explains its moral classification; "the two [kinds of] feeling are indeterminate" explains its retribution; "noble (ārya)" explains the person who cultivates it; "acquired through preliminary effort (prayogika)" explains the initial cultivation; and the last two lines explain its acquisition upon attaining buddhahood.
