「論曰至異熟法故」者，就長行中，一釋頌、二決擇，此即釋頌。異熟法者，法之言持，即目於因。此因能持異熟果故，名異熟法，依主釋也。若言異熟即法，持業釋也。餘文可知。

Regarding "The commentary says... because it is a dharma of maturation": in the prose commentary, first is the explanation of the verse, and second is the critical examination. This explains the verse. As for "dharma of maturation" (vipāka-dharma): "dharma" means to hold, which directly designates the cause. Because this cause can hold the fruit of maturation, it is called a "dharma of maturation" (vipāka-dharma); this is a genitive tatpuruṣa compound (ṣaṣṭhī-tatpuruṣa). If one says that maturation is itself the dharma, it is a karmadhāraya compound. The remaining text is understandable.
