「若異熟之因至業之異熟」者，難。若異熟之因，據依主釋，聖教不應言異熟生眼，是則因名異熟。若異熟即因，據持業釋，聖教不應言業之異熟，是則果名異熟。

Regarding "If it is the cause of maturation... the maturation of karma": an objection. If it is the cause of maturation, based on the tatpuruṣa compound, the sacred teaching should not say "an eye born of maturation (vipākaja)"—for in that case the cause would be called maturation. If maturation is itself the cause, based on the karmadhāraya compound, the sacred teaching should not say "the maturation of karma"—for in that case the fruit would be called maturation.
