Regarding "Some say the other causes ... maturation is not like this": within the answer there are two [positions], this being the first master. The other three causes—homogeneous, omnipresent, and efficient—also have the fruit of human effort, with the sole exception of the cause of maturation. Because the fruit of human effort has two types in total: first, arising simultaneously with the cause; second, arising immediately after the cause. Associated and simultaneous [causes] can take what arises simultaneously. For homogeneous and omnipresent [causes], if the fruit is adjacent, they can take what is immediately contiguous. The efficient [cause] generally takes both simultaneous and contiguous. Therefore these five causes obtain the fruit of human effort. The cause of maturation is not like this: being of a different nature from the fruit, producing the fruit is rather difficult, requiring a continuum for the fruit to become manifest; not being simultaneous or immediately contiguous, it therefore lacks [the fruit of] human effort. Another explanation: the fruit of maturation is not like this, not being simultaneous or immediately contiguous with the cause, hence it is not [the fruit of] human effort.
