"Is it not visibly seen [...] what prevents it from arising in continuity?": the proponent of no intermediate existence rescues his position. A reflection arises from an original object (*bimba*); though there is an interval in between, it nevertheless arises in continuity. From death to birth, although there is an interval in between, what prevents it from arising in continuity? This shows the fallacy of inconclusiveness (*anaikāntika*) in the author's reason: is it like a seed and a fruit, where because of arising in continuity there must be an unbroken connection between death and birth; or is it like an original object and a reflection, where because of arising in continuity there is no unbroken connection between death and birth?
