8.29

「故經部師至不依色轉」者，引說同己。故經部說：無色界心、心所法相續，但互相依，無別同分、命等為依。謂若有因未離色愛引起心等果。由因未離色愛故，所引心等果與色俱生，依色而轉。若因於色已得離愛，厭背色故。由因離色故，所引心等果非色俱生，不依色轉。顯無色界心、心所法唯互相依。

"Therefore the Sautrāntika masters... do not operate relying on form" cites a doctrine in agreement with his own. Therefore the Sautrāntikas say: The continuity of mind and mental factors in the formless realm merely rely mutually on one another, without having a separate generic similarity, life [faculty], or the like as a support. That is, if there is a cause that has not yet separated from craving for form, it induces the fruit of mind and the rest. Because the cause has not separated from craving for form, the induced fruit of mind and the rest arises co-present with form and operates relying on form. If the cause has already attained separation from craving for form, having loathed and turned away from form, then because the cause is separated from form, the induced fruit of mind and the rest does not arise co-present with form and does not operate relying on form. This demonstrates that mind and mental factors in the formless realm rely solely on one another.
