"Some say that the nature of a destiny [...] therefore it is stated separately": some Mahāsāṃghikas say that the nature of a destiny also extends to the wholesome and defiled. However, in the Sūtra on the Seven Existences, distinguishing karmic existence apart from the five destinies does not mean that speaking of karma separately makes it definitely not subsumed under destinies. The five turbidities refer to the kalpa turbidity, lifespan turbidity, sentient being turbidity, defilement turbidity, and view turbidity. Just as among the five turbidities, defilement and views are stated separately as turbidities, yet because they are stated separately, those views are not definitely un-subsumed under defilement, since the ten anuśayas are all defilements. Although karma is a destiny, to reveal the cause it is stated separately.
