8.80

「彼住中有中至長壽久住」者，論主破。欲界中有受胎生等，生緣未合容可經停。色界中有皆受化生，受生無礙。既不闕緣，無容久住，何得說言曾見梵王長壽久住？

"While they were abiding in the intermediate existence ... long-lived and dwelling long" is the refutation by the author of the treatise. In the intermediate existence of the desire realm, where one undergoes birth from a womb and so forth, it is plausible to remain for some time when the conditions for birth have not yet coalesced. The intermediate existence of the form realm is entirely apparitional birth, and taking birth is unobstructed. Since conditions are not lacking, it is impossible to dwell for long; how can it be said that they once saw the Brahma king being long-lived and dwelling long?
