「論曰至為自性故」者，煩惱、業、事及與因果，攝十二可知。依託事果而造因，故名所依事。或依此事果而起惑、業，是彼所依事也。

Regarding "The commentary says: [...] because of having [these] as their essential nature": Afflictions, karma, and entities, together with causes and fruits, are known to subsume the twelve [links]. Because causes are created depending upon entities as fruits, they are called the supporting entities (vastu). Alternatively, it means that depending upon these entities as fruits, afflictions and karma arise; thus they are their supporting entities.
