「依此有彼至廣說緣起」者，答。依此因有彼果有，此因生故彼果生，廣說十二緣起。今明捨此往餘，即是因果前後相續。即於此法假名作者，無別作者。故《正理》二十五云「為顯因果相續諸行，即是作者故復說言：依此有彼有，此生故彼生。」

"Because this exists, that exists […] extensively explaining dependent origination": the reply. Because this cause exists, that fruit exists; because this cause arises, that fruit arises; extensively explaining the twelve links of dependent origination. Here it is clarified that abandoning this and going to that is simply the prior and posterior continuity of cause and effect. Precisely with respect to these dharmas, one nominally designates an 'agent'; there is no separate agent. Therefore the Nyāyānusāra, fascicle 25, states: "In order to show that all conditioned phenomena in the continuum of cause and effect are themselves the agent, it is therefore further stated: 'Because this exists, that exists; because this arises, that arises.'"
