「論曰至眼等五根」，此釋頌也。「彼識」，有兩釋也。一云彼色等識、二云彼眼等識。此文第一，即是彼色識所依名眼根，乃至觸識所依名身根也。

"The treatise says: '... the five faculties, eye and so forth'" explains the verse. "Consciousness of those" (tad-vijñāna) has two explanations: one says the consciousness of those visible forms and so forth; the second says the consciousness of that eye and so forth. In this text, the first means that the support of the consciousness of visible form is called the eye faculty, up to the support of the consciousness of touch being called the body faculty.
