論「已說色處當說聲處」，此下第二釋聲處也。文中有四：一文前結引、二舉數列名、三依名別釋、四破異說。此文初也。《正理論》云「能有呼召，說名為聲。或唯音響，說名為聲。」（述曰：前是語聲，後非語聲。）

Regarding the treatise text: "Having explained the sense-base of form, we should now explain the sense-base of sound": below this is the second section, explaining the sense-base of sound. The text has four parts: first, concluding the preceding and introducing the next; second, presenting the number and enumerating the names; third, explaining them individually according to name; and fourth, refuting opposing views. This text is the first part. The Nyāyānusāra says: "That which can designate is called sound. Alternatively, mere resonance is called sound." (Commentary: The former is vocal sound; the latter is non-vocal sound.)
