The Śāstra says: "Showing the reason for establishing the name... hence it is called unmanifest." This is the fifth section, which explains the name 'unmanifest.' Because the verse text is concise, it merely says: "From this." The *Karmasiddhiprakaraṇa* says: "Why is it called 'manifest'? It can indicate the mind initiating its own action and make it known to others. The verse says: 'Outwardly it initiates bodily and vocal actions, / manifesting what is thought by the inner mind; / just as a fish hidden in a deep pool / stirs waves and thereby manifests itself.' The verse says 'from this' to show that, because of the lack of this meaning of manifest, it is called 'unmanifest.'"
