[On the quote from the] *Śāstra*: “However, the *Vibhāṣā*… also speaks of burning clothes,” below is an overarching citation of the *Vibhāṣā* with a general explanation. Thus the *Vibhāṣā* says: “The masters of the Abhidharma say: If considering the nominal skandha, they say that an atom is one dhātu, one āyatana, and a small portion of one skandha. If not considering it, they say that an atom is precisely one dhātu, one āyatana, and one skandha.” ‘Considering the nominal’ means considering the nominal skandha that is an aggregate collection; an atom is then one portion. ‘Not considering’ means not considering the nominal collection; an atom is precisely the rūpa-dhātu, rūpa-āyatana, and rūpa-skandha, following this principle. Since a single atom obtains the name of a skandha, we know that a skandha is indeed real. To resolve this: here, one nominally speaks of the possessor of parts with respect to the part: an atom is a part of a skandha, and is nominally designated a skandha, where skandha is an overarching name, being the possessor of parts. The metaphorical explanation can be understood.
