論「毘婆沙師說至老死緣故」，已下明二種皆因四食住，諸有愛者亦由段食資當有故。引世尊說，四食皆為老死緣故。此中意證段食亦引當有，如前引《正理》釋，此明段食資現亦資當也。

On the treatise's statement, "The masters of the Vibhāṣā say ... because they are conditions for old age and death": from here down clarifies that both types subsist on the four foods, and those with craving for existence also rely on morsel food to nourish future existence. It cites the World-Honoured One's statement that the four foods are all conditions for old age and death. What is meant here is to prove that morsel food also leads to future existence, as in the earlier cited explanation from the Nyāyānusāra; this clarifies that morsel food nourishes the present and also nourishes the future.
