論「彼說且依至皆有四食」，答也。前四句中及《品類足》且說資身，《毘婆沙》說據得食相，由斯故說鐵丸、洋銅得食相故亦名為食。孤獨地獄亦有唯益無損段食，如人中食，故說五趣皆具四食。准此論文，八地獄中無益身食。

On the treatise's statement, "What is said there is merely based on ... all have four foods": this answers. What was said in the previous four permutations and the Prakaraṇapāda merely spoke of nourishing the body. What the Vibhāṣā says is based on possessing the characteristics of food; therefore, because iron pellets and molten copper possess the characteristics of food, they are also called food. The solitary hells also have morsel food that only benefits without harming, like the food among humans; therefore, it is said that the five destinies are all endowed with the four foods. According to this text of the treatise, in the eight hells there is no food that benefits the body.
