論「死生唯許至不順死生」，答第二問。《正理論》云「以死、生時必昧劣故，由此故說下三靜慮唯近分心有死生理，以根本地無捨受故。」

On the treatise's statement, "Death and birth are accepted only ... are not conducive to death and birth": this answers the second question. The Nyāyānusāra states: "Because at the time of death and birth one is necessarily dull and weak; therefore, it is said that in the lower three dhyānas, the principle of death and birth occurs only in the threshold mind (sāmantaka), because the fundamental stages lack equanimity feeling."
