"The Commentary states, 'From [...] up to [...] reaches fully sixteen thousand,'" explaining the verse, which can be understood. The Vibhāṣā, fascicle 128, says: "The bodily form obtained by the asura king Rāhu is vast in its measurement, being equal to the bodily form of sixteen thousand six yūjanas obtained in Akaniṣṭha." "Krośa" is translated here as "shouting distance." As for why the Anabhraka [gods] are reduced by three yūjanas: some say that, proceeding from sensations that undergo modification, it is difficult to first cultivate sensations that do not undergo modification. This seems backwards: since they have attained a difficult concentration, their bodies and lifespans should increase. One should rather say: because in the lower sensations that undergo modification the aspiration of desire is strong, the karma generated thereby leads to superior lifespan and so forth; sensations that do not undergo modification generate an inferior rejoicing mind, and therefore the karma generated thereby leads to a reduced lifespan and so forth.
