論「雖爾不許至親所引起」，此是外道述自計也。如前所引三種種子，皆是前後為同類因，如種子芽等。外道宗計不許種與芽為親因，芽分生芽、種分生種為親因也。

The treatise says: "Although that is so, it is not admitted … directly induced by it." Here the outsiders state their own doctrine. The three kinds of seeds cited above all serve as homogeneous causes in succession, like a seed and a sprout. The tenet of the outsiders' school does not admit that a seed is the immediate cause of a sprout; rather, the parts of the sprout produce the sprout, and the parts of the seed produce the seed as immediate causes.
