12.21

「論曰至外器都盡」，明壞劫也。頌中初明四劫，有壞劫、有成劫、有中劫、有大劫。此先釋壞劫。壞劫謂地獄有情不復生，至外器都盡，皆是壞劫。

On the words, "The Śāstra says: [...] until the outer receptacle is entirely destroyed": Explaining the eon of destruction (saṃvartakalpa). In the verse, first the four eons are explained: the eon of destruction, the eon of formation, the intermediate eon, and the great eon. Here the eon of destruction is first explained. The eon of destruction refers to the period from when hell beings are no longer reborn until the outer receptacle is entirely destroyed; all of this is the eon of destruction.
