12.34

論「所言成劫至成劫便至」，大文第二明成劫也。從空劫後方有成劫，空、成二劫皆等住劫二十劫也。明成劫中復分有四：一明成次第、二明將成相、三明成外器、四明成有情。此下第一明次第也。

On the Śāstra's text, "As for what is called the kalpa of formation... the kalpa of formation then arrives": This is the second major section, explaining the kalpa of formation. Only after the kalpa of emptiness does the kalpa of formation occur; both the kalpa of emptiness and the kalpa of formation are equal to the twenty kalpas of the kalpa of abiding. The explanation of the kalpa of formation is further divided into four parts: first, explaining the order of formation; second, explaining the signs of approaching formation; third, explaining the formation of the external receptacle world; fourth, explaining the formation of sentient beings. The passage below is the first, explaining the order.
