12.60

論「有懷潤己至此事非難信」，答：汝懷潤己無大慈悲，於此事中實為難信，以己方人故不得信也。若無潤己有大慈悲，此事非難信，以他方己故。

On the Śāstra's text, "Those who harbor self-enrichment... this matter is not hard to believe": The answer: You harbor self-enrichment and lack great compassion; in this matter, it is truly hard for you to believe, because measuring others by yourself, you cannot believe it. If one lacks self-enrichment and has great compassion, this matter is not hard to believe, because one measures oneself by others.
