14.105

論「於如是義至一晝夜戒」，經部令有部等尋思經意。經說唯一晝夜者，以所化根難調伏故，且說一晝夜，非謂越一晝夜戒不得生。

The treatise says: "Regarding such an intent ... the precepts of a single day and night." The Sautrāntika urges the Sarvāstivādin and others to investigate the sūtra's underlying intent. That the sūtra speaks of only one day and night is because the faculties of those to be transformed are difficult to tame; thus it provisionally speaks of one day and night, not that precepts cannot arise exceeding one day and night.
