論「如《大名經》至故違越經」，解云：經不說故，名違越經。如《大名經》中說近事相，於此經中不說自稱我是近事時得戒。從今捨生言，又不是《大名經》說，故是違越。

On the Śāstra's phrase: "As the Mahānāma-sūtra ... up to ... therefore violates the sūtra:" The explanation says: Because the sūtra does not say so, it is called "violating the sūtra." As when the Mahānāma-sūtra explains the characteristics of an upāsaka, in this sūtra it does not say that one obtains the precepts at the time of declaring oneself to be an upāsaka. Moreover, the words "from this day relinquishing life" are not spoken in the Mahānāma-sūtra; therefore it is a violation.
