14.52

論「若爾世尊所說略戒」，下半頌，第三因論生論明意、根律儀。若律儀唯是無表，何故略戒乃至云意律儀善哉，又契經說眼根律儀。「此意及根律儀以何為自性」，問。

The treatise says: "If so, regarding the summary precepts spoken by the World-Honoured One…" The lower half-verse is the third [part], explaining by digression the discipline of the mind and the sense faculties. If discipline is exclusively avijñapti-rūpa, why do the summary precepts say even: 'Discipline of the mind is good', and sūtras also speak of the discipline of the eye faculty? "What is the intrinsic nature of this discipline of the mind and sense faculties?" is a question.
