15.22

論「言時定者至能離殺等」，釋時定也。唯近住限一日夜；餘戒皆從盡形，若限年月戒即不發。

On the Śāstra's: "The statement 'the limitation of time'... can abstain from killing and so forth", this explains the limitation of time. Only the upavāsa [discipline] is limited to one day and night; the other precepts are all from [the present] until the end of life. If limited to months or years, the discipline does not arise.
