15.49

論「經部諸師至唯除八戒」，述經部宗。彼宗善、惡戒七支不具，於境不遍，皆容名住律儀、不律儀人；唯除八戒，彼宗八戒必具支故。

The treatise says: "The masters of the Sautrāntika... only excluding the eight precepts."
This states the Sautrāntika tenet. In their school, even if the seven branches of wholesome or unwholesome precepts are incomplete and not universal with respect to objects, in all such cases one may be called a person abiding in restraint or non-restraint; only the eight precepts are excluded, because in their school the eight precepts must be complete in all branches.
