The treatise states: "If one obtains the restraint of dhyāna [...] how much more so from prohibitory offenses." This explains the fourth clause. The *Nyāyānusāra* says: "If one obtains the restraint of dhyāna or anāsrava restraint, one should know that it is only from the primary paths of karma, because in meditative absorption there are only primary paths of karma. It is not obtained from the preparatory stages before or after, because in the state of meditative absorption there are only primary ones, and in the non-meditative state this restraint does not exist. (Explanation: This is because the dhyāna and anāsrava [restraints] in the grounds of the six dhyānas serve as the antidotes of abandonment and so forth against the evil precepts of the desire realm; by reversing these, there are two kinds of restraint. Since the evil precepts are only the seven primary limbs, these also are only the primary paths of karma. A distracted mind is not the antidote of abandonment and so forth against them; therefore, there is no restraint of this kind [in a distracted state], unlike prātimokṣa which is formulated based on distinct conditions)."
