16.15

「論曰至唯盡純黑」，釋斷黑黑業也。四法智忍斷欲四諦所斷不善業故。斷欲修斷前八品思，唯斷不善業故。此上十二皆自性斷，非所緣斷也。

"The Śāstra says: […] only exhausts the purely dark"—this explains the abandonment of dark-dark karma. This is because the four Dharma-knowledge patiences abandon the unwholesome karma abandoned by [the path of seeing] the four truths of desire, and the intention of the first eight grades abandoned by the cultivation of desire abandons only unwholesome karma. These twelve above are all abandoned through intrinsic nature, not abandoned through object of cognition.
