論「且經非證至愛非愛相」，釋經非證。佛告鬘母經不欲決判此是眼唯見、耳唯聞、意唯知等四所言相。此經欲令鬘母於六境中，及於見等四言事中，知但有所見等言，不應於境上增益愛、非愛相。愛、非愛相但是自心妄增益也。

[On the passage in the] treatise: 'First, the sūtra is not a proof […] the characteristics of pleasant and unpleasant': This explains that the sūtra is not a proof. The sūtra in which the Buddha addressed the Mother of Mālī was not intended to definitively determine that these are the characteristics of what is spoken of by the four—eye only seeing, ear only hearing, mind only knowing, and so on. This sūtra intended to lead the Mother of Mālī, in the midst of the six objects and in the midst of the four verbal conventions of seeing and so forth, to know that there are merely expressions such as 'what is seen,' and that one should not superimpose characteristics of pleasant or unpleasant upon the objects. The characteristics of pleasant and unpleasant are merely the false superimpositions of one's own mind.
