論「加行善根先已退故」，答。《正理論》云「加行善根將斷善時，最初捨故。」

On the Śāstra's stating: "Because effort-acquired wholesome roots have already fallen away beforehand", this is the answer. The Nyāyānusāra states: "When one is about to sever wholesome roots, effort-acquired wholesome roots are abandoned first."
