17.51

論「如是說者至氣力漸增」，述正義也。《婆沙》云「評曰：應作是說，九品頓續漸次現前，乃至應從地獄死，當生地獄者，三品善根得亦在身成就，亦現在前；當生傍生、鬼六品；當生人、天九品。」

The treatise says, "The correct opinion is [...] its strength gradually increases": this sets forth the orthodox position. The Vibhāṣā states: "The critique says: it should be stated that the nine grades are reconnected simultaneously and become manifest gradually; up to those who are to die from hell and be reborn into hell, the acquisition of the three [lower] grades of good roots is both possessed in the body and also made manifest; for those to be reborn among animals or ghosts, six grades; for those to be reborn among humans or gods, nine grades."
