論「若爾有執至不應見苦斷」，論主難有部也。計自在等從常倒生，是見苦斷。投水火等非常倒生，如何本論說見苦斷？

[As for] the Śāstra's [statement]: "If so, there are those who cling [...] it should not be abandoned by seeing suffering": the author of the Śāstra poses an objection to the Vaibhāṣikas. Clinging to Maheśvara and the like arises from the inversion of permanence, and is abandoned by seeing suffering. [Practices such as] throwing oneself into water and fire do not arise from the inversion of permanence; how can the foundational treatise say that they are abandoned by seeing suffering?
