19.147

論「如是九種至過慢卑慢」，屬當三慢。如是三慢若從我生，行解次第有殊，成三三類。今詳三慢、我慢、慢類別者，不因見生但名三慢，唯恃我陵人名為我慢。從見生慢，行解勝劣不同，名為慢類。

On the Śāstra's statement: 'These nine kinds... to... pride of superiority and inferiority pride': This correlates them to the three prides. If these three prides arise from an 'I', their modes of understanding differ in sequence, forming three triads. Now, analyzing the distinction between the three prides, the pride of 'I', and the classes of pride: that which does not arise due to views is merely called the three prides; solely relying on the self to despise others is called the pride of 'I'; arising from views, with varying modes of understanding superiority and inferiority, it is called the classes of pride.
