論「如是且依至勝境別故」，解云：言我勝者，謂我勝他。此有三種：觀劣境勝是慢；觀等境勝是過慢；觀勝境勝是慢過慢。餘八准此。今詳二釋，《發智論》略，《品類足》廣。

On the Śāstra's statement: 'In this way, provisionally relying on... to... because of the distinction in superior objects': Explanation: Saying 'I am superior' means I am superior to others. This has three kinds: regarding an inferior object as superior is pride (māna); regarding an equal object as superior is pride of superiority (atimāna); regarding a superior object as superior is pride beyond pride (mānātimāna). The remaining eight should be understood accordingly. Now, analyzing the two explanations: the Jñānaprasthāna is concise, while the Prakaraṇapāda is extensive.
