19.82

論「餘八地攝至智所斷故」，釋第三句。下八地通二斷，若聖人纔見諦理即便斷故不容至修，凡夫不見諦理必賴數修方能斷故。

On the text stating, "Those subsumed within the remaining eight stages... because they are abandoned through knowledge": this explains the third line. The lower eight stages admit of both types of abandonment: noble persons, as soon as they see the principle of the truths, abandon them immediately and therefore do not allow them to extend into cultivation; ordinary persons do not see the principle of the truths and must depend on repeated cultivation before they are able to abandon them.
