19.84

論「有餘師說至見所斷惑」，已下敘異師執。《婆沙》九十云「或復有執：異生不能斷見所斷隨眠。有餘復執：異生不能斷諸隨眠，唯能制伏。」《婆沙》五十一云「謂譬喻者作如是說：異生不能斷諸煩惱。」

On the text stating, "Other masters say... defilements abandoned through seeing": below is an account of the tenets of different masters. The *Vibhāṣā*, fascicle 90, states: "Furthermore, some hold: ordinary persons cannot abandon anusayas that are abandoned through seeing. Still others hold: ordinary persons cannot abandon anusayas at all; they can only suppress them." The *Vibhāṣā*, fascicle 51, states: "Namely, the Dārṣṭāntikas say this: ordinary persons cannot abandon defilements."
