論「餘二者至應說自用」，第二明十七界通二。「餘二者」，牒頌文。餘十七界皆有同分。「彼同分者」，釋頌意。「何名同分彼同分耶」者，問。十七界何者名同分？何者名彼同分？「謂作自業不作自業」者，引頌答。「若作自業至名彼同分」，釋頌意。「此中眼界至應說自用」，下指法釋也。

On the Śāstra's stating, "The other two [...] should be explained in terms of their own activity": the second part explains that seventeen dhātus are of both kinds. "The other two" takes up the words of the verse; the other seventeen dhātus all have counterparts. "Their counterparts" explains the meaning of the verse. "What are called counterparts and non-counterparts?" is the question: among the seventeen dhātus, which are called counterparts and which are called non-counterparts? "Performing their own function or not performing their own function" cites the verse in answer. "If it performs its own function [...] is called its counterpart" explains the intention of the verse. "Here, the eye-dhātu [...] should be explained in terms of their own activity" below explains by pointing to the dharmas.
