The treatise says: "Here the Venerable... this is accepted." This is the eighth [section], presenting the Sautrāntika view. Kumāralāta is translated here as "Noble Youth"; he is an ancestral master of the Sautrāntikas. Within the Sautrāntika school he composed the Dṛṣṭāntamālā, the Mohamālā, and so forth, which contain this verse explaining "having opposition," differing from the Sarvāstivādins. "Where the mind desires to arise" means the mind arising with respect to blue color, and so forth. "Obstructed by another so that it does not arise" means that being blocked by other hindrances, the mind cannot arise with respect to the blue color. "Should be understood as having opposition" is the conclusion. "Without opposition is contrary to this" reverses the above. The Sarvāstivādin view is that arising directly with respect to the blue is called having opposition. "This is accepted" means the master of the treatise endorses the Sautrāntika meaning.
