Regarding the passage in the treatise from "It is said in the treatise" to "the three powers of preparatory application": This explains the three causes. When the entrapment of sensual desire is about to arise, the possession of unabandoned desire serves as the power of the cause; that is, the power of possession causes desire to arise, as explained in the Nyāyānusāra. It also says: "Through three conditions it is said to be unabandoned and not fully known: namely, because possession is not abandoned, because the antidote has not arisen, and because the objective field is not fully known, an objective field conducive to sensual desire is present before oneself. This is the power of the objective field. Because improper attention arises with that as its object, it is preparatory application."
