論「由此獨為至為清淨道故」，答也。以二因故所以別立。由非道計道，捨其真道，為聖道怨。在家之眾，妄計自餓為生天道，而不行十善。諸出家眾，直以破衣、麁食，捨可愛境，二百五十戒等為真實道，不知是助道緣，而不修行三十七品。

Regarding the treatise's statement from "Because this alone acts as" to "as the path of purification": This is the answer. It is separately established because of two reasons. Because of conceptualizing what is not the path as the path, one abandons the true path; thus it acts as an enemy to the noble path. Householders falsely conceptualize self-starvation as the path to rebirth in heaven, while failing to practice the ten wholesome [actions]. Monastics merely regard tattered robes, coarse food, renouncing delightful objects, the two hundred and fifty precepts, and so forth as the true path, failing to understand that these are auxiliary conditions for the path, and do not cultivate the thirty-seven factors of awakening.
