20.37

論「第四所立至類亦應然」，出第四計過也。過去中有前後三剎那，對前二應名未來，對後二應名過去，對前後應名現在。現在對前兩剎那應名未來，對後兩念應名過去，對前後念後應名現。未來類思。

On the Śāstra's statement: "What is established by the fourth […] should also be understood similarly": this points out the flaw in the fourth position. In the past there are three moments—before, middle, and after; relative to the first two, it should be called future; relative to the latter two, it should be called past; relative to before and after, it should be called present. The present, relative to the two preceding moments, should be called future; relative to the two succeeding moments, should be called past; relative to the moments before and after, should be called present. The future should be considered analogously.
