論「此中先應辨不淨觀」，已下第二別釋二門，一明不淨觀、二明持息念。就前門中，一不淨觀相、二義門分別。此兩行頌即初門也。

On the Śāstra's statement: "Herein, one should first explain the contemplation of impurity": Below this is the second part, distinctly explaining the two gateways: first, explaining the contemplation of impurity; second, explaining mindfulness of breathing. Within the former gateway, there are two: first, the characteristics of the contemplation of impurity; second, analysis through doctrinal categories. These two stanzas constitute the first gateway.
