論「通依五地至故不俱起」,第三明依地也。由持息念唯捨相應,四禪無息,所以唯在前三近分,及在欲界、中間靜慮。喜、樂二受,能順引尋及違專注,不與俱起。

On the Śāstra's text, "It universally relies on five planes ... therefore they do not arise together," this thirdly clarifies the planes on which it relies. Because mindfulness of breathing is associated solely with equanimity (upekṣā), and the four dhyānas lack breath, it exists solely in the first three threshold concentrations (sāmantaka), and in the desire realm (kāmadhātu) and the intermediate dhyāna (dhyānāntara). The two feelings of joy (prīti) and pleasure (sukha) can facilitate and induce investigation (vitarka) and contradict one-pointed focus; hence, they do not arise together with it.
