On the Śāstra's statement: "Speaking of 'a single session' ... up to bodhi": this recounts the two explanations of not rising from the seat. One explanation is from the stage of warmth; one explanation is from the meditation on the repulsive. The *Nyāyānusāra* says: "Relying on the fourth dhyāna, from mindfulness of the body up to [the knowledge of] destruction and non-arising, one can arise successively in only a single session. Therefore, for the rhinoceros-horn-like and the Buddha disposition, the roots of goodness such as warmth cannot be converted at all." The rest of the text can be understood. Based on this, stating that after a single session they cannot be converted differs from the *Vibhāṣā*; this is a difference in the treatise's intention. Or it may be that the earlier text of the *Vibhāṣā* maintains non-conversion by the single reason of sharp faculties, whereas here it combines the two reasons of sharp faculties and a single session for non-conversion, not that it intends to permit conversion in the earlier stages.
